The Australian Soaring Centre Corowa was founded in 2001 as result of an initiative of three Dutch and an Australian Glider Pilot.

The ASCC is located on Corowa Airfield, NSW, Australia.

The soaring operation is the responsibility of the Murray Valley Soaring Club Ltd. owned by the ASCC.

A new soaring centre for a new century.

Objective; establishing one of worlds leading soaring centre, where the pilots from all over the world can meet and compete in cross country flying.

Why Corowa ?

• Thermal conditions, start mostly 1,5 hour earlier than at the other sites.
• No rice or big irrigation.
• Close to the mountains.
• Easy landable paddocks from the airfield up to 1000 km north
• 2,5 hours drive from Melbourne Airport.
• Excellent and well maintained airfield with wide concrete and grass runways 
• Safe airfield without high objects such as power lines etc.
• Not a very busy airfield, Only the gliding club and the sky divers.
• Sufficient accommodation ( motel and holiday units) in town 1000 beds! 
• Close to the bigger towns.
• And for the people who are not flying or any accompanying friends there are a lot of things to do close to Corowa. (wineries, Albury, Lake Hume,  Melbourne, Beechworth etc.)

The site, facilities and the intended development.

The ASCC is located on the north side of the airfield.

Phase 1  Building a hangar of 35 m x 50 m, was finished the 1^st of November 2001.

Our facilities will include:

• Hangar (35 x 50 m)
• Clubhouse, with office, internet, storage, kitchen, bar, restaurant, showers, BBQ.
• Swimmingpool with Spa.
• Tie down area with enough water ballast facilities and electricity for charging batteries.
• Paved roads to and from the runways
• Camping site for tent and caravan.

 

Phase 2  Was finished by the 25^st of October 2002

• Beautiful clubhouse with office, bar, restaurant, briefing room,  showers, gauzed BBQ room and internet facilities.
• Lawns with a heated swimming pool and Spa.

Launching

Two Piper Pawnee 235 tow planes  are available for launching the gliders and the self launching gliders can take off from
the grass strip or the concrete runway.
