April 3rd 2004
Unpacking 22 gliders in 3 hours!!!!
Yesterday we unpacked 4 containers in which we transported back from Corowa 22 gliders!!
At 9 am all pilots with 22 trailers were in Grubbenvorst to pick up their glider.
We started at 10 am and by 1 pm the containers were empty and everybody was on his way back home. The most important thing is always to check if there is any damage. Not one scratch !!!.
Hans ,Pepe and Frits took care of Gerrit's container and Grietje, Wim and Francesco were in charge of the other 3 containers.
The job however had been impossible with the great experienced help of all our customers.
It was also good to meet Otto and Eva who came to see how we transport the gliders. They booked for next season and
will fly with us for 3 months with their DG 800.
March 31 st 2004Our last day in Corowa.
Debbie is already busy cleaning the clubhouse. The lawn is green and mowed and everything looks clean and tidy.
The hangar is clean, all the car batteries are charged and tomorrow the pest control will treat the in- and
outside of the hanger, so next year again a spider free hangar. We had a good meeting with Geoff Lewis of the Corowa Shire.
Most important thing for the pilots is that Rwy 23 left and right grass until the Rwy X 14/32 will be laser graded
before the next season. We (Grietje and Francesco) are leaving tomorrow and are back in Corowa from June 2nd.
LGT and FOO Lonely FOX Lined up Charging
March 25 th 2004We spend 2 days at Benalla.
After the invitation by Jim Barton, to join their old mates dinner, we decided to fly in with the Duo.
So yesterday morning Grietje flew the tow plane and Eugene and Francesco the Duo. Over Benalla
we enjoyed good thermals and after we landed, Grietje took Peter Presneill for a flight in the Duo.
After 1,5 hour they returned> Peter was impressed.
The dinner was very good and enjoyable and gave us the opportunity to meet many ( older) Aussi pilots. This morning we flew back. Francesco this time in the tow plane and Grietje and Eugene in the Duo.
They landed after 1 hr and 15 minutes.
Together we cleaned everything in and around the hangar.
Now the season is now really over.
Tomorrow we leave for Baron Bay with Jock for two days and after that the last preparations for the trip
back to Europe.Tonight I also had contact with the shipping company.
The containers are on schedule and will arrive in Rotterdam on Sunday evening
I also spoke with Theo Heldens in Grubbenvorst and we are most welcome to unpack the containers next Saturday.March 20 th 2004
The last week-end for the ASW17 WN.
After this week-end Eugene is going to re-finish the fuselage and the inside of the cockpit.
Next season the glider will be on line. The instrument panel is already up standard with a new cambridge 302
and Ipaq and a new Microair tranciever.
Today we had a look at the Wagga temp, which was not promising. But at 1 pm we had some nice cu's
which made Craig and Grietje decide to go for a flight.
Best climbs over 4 m/s and a cloudbase of 2450 meter.
After 1,5 hour Craig landed and flew 135 km, followed by Grietje who landed with the Duo after 2,5 hours.
She flew Lockhart out and return (199 km).
March 14 th 2004
A nice March Sunday at Corowa.
We had a max temp of 30 grC en blue thermals up to 7000 ft and climbs over 3,5 m/s average.
Eugene first made a joy flight with the Duo and after that he flew a few hours with his ASW 17 WN.Jock got endorsed on the Duo and flew with his partner Diane. It was her first flight in a glider ever.
For the next few days the forecast is still good. High pressure and temperatures over 30 grC.
Some rain could not harm. We did not have any rain since early December.March 12th 2004
Last week Harm and Pam were in Corowa ,we reviewed the season and enjoyed a good dinner in the Tulleries.
Most important decision made, is that the engine of FOO will be overhauled with new cylinders and FOO will
start the new season with 0 hours on the engine.
We used last week to do a lot of maintenance around the clubhouse and Hangar. It looks nice and green
and all the plants we got from our customers are doing very well.
Not always easy, because we had some really good flying days with a cloud base over 2000 meter.
Today, we did not have electricity , due to some work at the industrial site.
So no work in the office and Francesco flew the Duo.
The local weather was excellent. Climbs of 3,5 m/s up to 2100 m agl. Up north is was a struggle . After 2, 5 hours flying and 185 km it was time to have a nice cool beer.
We had a great season. Not really Australia weather, but nevertheless the results are top.

March 2nd 2004
A good blue day was forecasted, which was enough for Eugene to come to
Corowa.
After he finished the maintenance on all the field cars. New oil, new oil
filter and new airfilter he took the WN
out and flew 300 km in the blue.
February 28 th 2004
Yesterday, when I finished my office work and had a look outside, I saw only
cu's with a cloud base of approx 3000 m.
Unfortunately it was to late, so I missed an excellent day.
Today Craig Blunt and Francesco flew for about 2 hours. Blue thermals up to
2200 agl was just enough for an afternoon
175 km with FOX.
The forecast for the next few days is temp up to 35 grC and good soaring weather.
February 25 th 2004
The day started nice and cool, so good to do some work in the garden and
cleaning the BBQ area.
At 1 pm Lloyd Bungee and Francesco decided to fly.
The forecast was good. Cu's up to 7000 ft and strong thermals.
And we got average climbs of 2,5 m/s and some over 4 m/s and a cloud
base of 2200 m agl and at the end of the day
2600 m agl.
Lloyd flew 215 km and Francesco 340 km polygone (102 km/h).
The days are shortening but still very good soaring conditions.
February 24 th 2004
Today was the last day for David Bingham.
He decided to make a short flight with his wife Jan.
At 12.30 pm he took off and flew 1 hr and 15 min. Jan enjoyed it very much
but it was flat. (compared to Minden)
Nevertheless they had a good time and will be back in the high season.
After they landed, Francesco took over the Duo and flew 250 km.
Not really a good day, but average climbs of 2 m/s and som over 3 m/s. Max
hight was 1800 m agl.
February 22 nd 2004
Yesterday we had the bad weather and 20 km north of the airfield it was
sunny all day. Today we had rain 20 km north
of the airfield and over Corowa it was sunny in the afternoon.
David Bingham and Craig Blunt started at 13.30 and flew both for about 2,5
hours. Not excellent, but soarable
up to 6000 ft. Anyway David enjoyed the afternoon in the air with the LS4.
February 20th 2004
Yesterday Francesco and Eugene went for a flight. The weather was difficult and we only had weak thermals up to 4000 ft agl.
Today David Bingham and his wife Jan arrived.
After a briefing David flew with Francesco for 1,5 hour in the Duo. We had
good thermals up to 7000 ft
and lift up to 3 m/s average.
Eugene flew his ASW 17 and made 165 km.
The LS4, KYO from Tocumwal outlanded at our airfield. After we towed him
to the runway in use,
Chris Zippel
landed with the Scout and flew him back to Toc.
February 16th 2004
Dieter left today< Manfred is packing and leaves tomorrow and Ruedi and Lies
left yesterday and are travelling
via Echuca to Melbourne.
Only Werner and Andrea are still here. They are also packing, but Werner is
still stand by for towing.
Francesco and Grietje are moving into the clubhouse for the winter while their
new house in Corowa is build by
Jock's company Davis Sanders Homes.
On Wednesday we expect David Bingham, a friend of Jim and Jennifer from
Minden.
David had made a reservation for late December, but was due to a broken leg
not able to come to Corowa.
He could not wait until the next season, so he decided to be here for about
6 days.
The weather is still ok. Today we had again a max temp of 39 grC and a lot
of dust devils at the airfield.
From tomorrow I will update the news if there is anything
special. So first have a look at the update date on the
home page.
February 15th 2004
A little bit of rain in the morning. But later on the day hot and humid.
We were happy that the containers were packed yesterday. At 7 pm it was
still 39 grC.
At 11.30 am the containers left Corowa and are on the way back to Europe.
| The 1st container | The 2nd container | loading the
container on another truck |
Leaving Corowa |
Tonight Grietje and Francesco have the last (special) meal with Dieter.
Dieter is leaving tomorrow, a little bit sad, but he can look back at a very
successful season with
over 400 hours 61 flights and 35.000 km cross country km from Corowa.
We hope we will see Dieter back next year.
February 14 th 2004
We started again at 7 am, today . We only had to finish the red container.
At noon we closed the container doors after a final check in all containers.
It was not an easy job this time. It was hot .But with the great help
of Andrea, Grietje, Dieter, Werner, Ruedi
Manfred and last but not least Eugene we managed again to pack the
containers.
Only 7 months to go before we have to pack them again in Grubbenvorst.
| Packing job done | Eugene and Francesco | Sterling and Sterling |
Tonight we have dinner together and we will toast on Peter Klose who donated
the wine for those who helped
packing the KP.
From no on we will fly with the FOX, GOB, WN and VY.
On Saturday we expect our new guest from the USA, who are going to fly GOB
and FOX.
February 13 th 2004
We had and early start today . At 7 am Grietje made the last temp flight of
the season and we also
did start packing the blue container with 3W, KP,AR, SY, DS and AS.
At 11 am we were ready with the packing job and at the same time the first
cu's started to pop up.
Dieter and Manfred are packing tomorrow, so they could have their last
flying day of the season today.
An excellent day in Corowa paradise. With a max tem local of 41 grC and up
north 43 grC the enjoyed
a very good day.
Dieter is happy now, just because he flew this Corowa season over 400
hours!!!!.
Ruedi did his endorsement on the Duo T and flew later with Lies 3 hours.
Tomorrow at 7 am we will pack the last 2 gliders in the last container.
On Sunday morning the containers will leave for Melbourne and they are due
to be unpacked in Grubbenvorst
on April 3rd.
February 12 th 2004
8/8 clouds when we woke up and by 10 am we had blue sky with small cu's and
a max temp of 36 grC.
Dieter, Manfred, Eugene and Florian were in the air by 12.00.
Ruedi, Andrea and Werner prepared the SY and DS for packing.
Tomorrow morning early we pack the 3rd container. DIeter and Manfred will
make their last flights tomorrow,
and their gliders are packed on Saturday morning.
Florian made his last flight of the season today. It was nice to have him
here at Corowa.
He enjoyed the flying and flew on 4 of the for him 6 available days.
February 11 th 2004
A trough line from west to east causes a lot of clouds over southern
NSW and Victoria.
Unfortunately we had a 3rd day of no flying.
February 10 th 2004
The same weather as yesterday.
Dieter and Florian went to the mountains and Grietje and Francesco had a
quit day in the office.
February 9 th 2004
A covered sky this morning.
The clouds associated with the cool change covered the sky until 5 pm.
So nothing special today.
February 8 th 2004
At 2 pm we had 42 grC at Corowa.
The forecast was more or less the same as yesterday. We needed 38 grC for
1000 meter and the forecaste Tmax
was 40 grC.
When the convection started it immediately overdeveloped.
Only Grietje, Dieter, Ruedi, Jock and Florian wnet up.
For the next few day we expect still good flying conditions.
February 7 th 2004
What a week!!
What a week!!
After I had my first look at the temp I thought mmmm. We needed 37 grC to
get up to 1000 meter and when we had 39 grC
it would be a boombing day.
So it took a while before we could take of, but at 12 we already had the 37
grC and within no time we had 2000 meter with
excellent climbs.
After everybody was in the air, Grietje declared a 200 km o/r speed task,
which she flew with 123 km/h. and Francesco declared
a 400 km o/r with the Duo and he flew 115 km/h. Both flights are new Dutch
records.!!
February 6 th 2004
A summer day.
We got 38 grC local and blue 5 m/s thermals up to 3000 m.
Pam left with the Diamond Start and Gerrit flew the VW to Narromine.
Werner was the tow pilot, so Grietje and Francesco could fly the FOX again
in the afternoon.
They flew a 350 km polgone with an average of 110 km/h.
Today Florian Forcher arrived and after the site check he flew the LS4.
Naud and Joke Vermeulen left today after 2 flying days for Naud. He made 2
flights over 300 km.
(360 km and 340 km).
Mario made his last flight of the season. Unfortunately he did miss out on a
good 500 km day.
We hope we will see Mario and Hedwig back next season, maybe a little bit
earlier in the season, so
he can make his 500 km.
February 5 th 2004
Happy Birthday Grietje.
Grietje is celebrating her 32 nd birthday today. Tonight the restaurant is
closed and Grietje and Francesco
will enjoy a birthday dinner somewhere else.
Another good flying day with a max temp of 38 grC. (late summer)
It was the 15th good flying day in a row.!! Much better as last year when we
were having all the smoke from
the bushfires.
February 4 th 2004
Always when we pack containers the weather is excellent.
This morning we packed RA and Gerrit ,Pam and Pepe packed Gerrits container.
At 11.00 we already had nice cu's . Dieter and Manfred had an early startand
flew 725 and 745 km.
Mario flew the 3W and Francesco flew with Naud in the Duo. It was naud's
first flight over 300 km
and with an average speed of 115 km/h.
Tonight we have a full restaurant again. Salmon is on the menue.
February 3 rd 2004
Manfred went to Melbourne to bring Angelica to the airport .
Andy left today after a stay of 4,5 month in Australia.
We said goodbye with a little bit of sadness.
But Andy is back at the end of October.
Yesterday was Richard Aldous his last flying day. His glider RA is going in
the red container tomorrow early.
Richard was almost every day in the air and mad a lot of hours and km cross
country.
We also will see Richard back next season.
Dieter flew in the afternoon 495 km and Grietje and Francesco flew again together in the Duo . Today a 265 triangle.
February 2 nd 2004
We derigged the AS today and put him in the Blue container.
Andreas is leaving in the next few days and we will really miss him. Andy
flew this season over 20.000 km cross country
in Australia. He flew with Uwe and Ruediger to Lake Keepit and later to
Waikerie.
Villa Super Lumpie will also be derigged which makes he camping site empty.
Mario van Bree made his first flight of the season with the ASW27
3W. After a few hour of local flying
he is ready to go cross country tomorrow.
Werner did the towing today, so Grietje and Francesco could fly the Duo
together.
They (Grietje) flew a 420 km triangle.
Andrea flew the SY and made 480 km.
Angelika (MK) is leaving tomorrow, but Manfred will stay until the containers leave Corowa.
February 1 st 2004
An excellent soaring day and the Australian Open tennis
final at the same day.
Some decided to watch tele and the others enjoyed the day in the sky.
It was a beautiful day with 5/8 cu's, climbs up to 5 m/s and a cloud base over 2000 m agl.
Dieter flew (only) 822 km, Craig on his first cross country with the
ASW 17 210 km and Richard a 500 out and return.
Eugene was checked out on the Duo by Francesco and after the procedures with
the engine they flew 490 km.
Mario van Bree and his daughter Hedwig arrived today. They are
traveling trough Australia and stay in Corowa
for the week.
January 31 st 2004
We were just on the edge of the good weather.
We started launching at 11 am. Dieter was the first to go and after that
Manfred Kasten made a few aero tows before
he went cross country.
We had a strong (20 --> 25 kts) SW wind so Dieter said it was easy to
fly North, but the skill today was to fly back into the
wind. After 660 km He was happy to be back at Corowa.
Francesco made some check flights with Craig Blunt, before he went solo on
the family ASW17 WN.
So Craig is now a hot shot big ship pilot.
The last day of January.
We look back at a much better month as last year when we had the bush fires
and were not able to fly for at least 14 days.
Compared to December, we had the same amount of flying days and km
cross country.
In relation to last year we did 40 % more.
So far, in the whole season we flew over 4000 hours
and more as 300.000 km cross country and compared to December
the average speed in January 10 % higher.
More figures at the end of the season.
The planning for the next season already started.
We have 2 confirmed LS8/18 , 1 ASW 24 and the DUO, LS4, Nimbus 2, ASW17 and
the ASW 27 on line.
January 30 th 2004
At 8 am we started to pack the SA and DB.
In the mean time Grietje flew the temp and after evaluating the weather
(Cu's but soon overcast with rain)
all pilots took the day off.
Special for Dieter he flew the last 8 days in a row and made 5200 km
cross country and 60 hours !!
Only Marc Surinx flew the Duo for an hour because it was his last day. He
had a great time and flew 8 out of the 9
available days.
So good bye to Bernd and Norbert, they both enjoyed their second stay in
Corowa very much.
Tomorrow Mario van Bree and his daughter Hedwig arrive and he will fly the ASW 27 3W.
January 29 th 2004
At 10 am we had the first cu's . Everybody was in the air before
12.
Norbert Schlafke and Bernd Doernemann made their last flight of this Corowa
season.
We are going to pack the SA and DB tomorrow.
After Bernd landed he was smiling and told us it was his best and
most relaxing flight of the season.
Grietje was towing today and Francesco flew with the 3W a 200 km out and
return with 113,3 km/h average.
January 28 th 2004
The forecast was good, but a cool SW wind kept the temperature 4
grC lower.
After a few good flying days Richard, Manfred, Werner and Bernd took a day
off.
Hans and Eveline Lange, Manfred Ringel and Herbert Dressler left today
for a bit cooler Europe.
January 27 th 2004
A typical Corowa day. Early cumulus and good flights. The conditions were
forecasted less good as
Yesterday, but turned out to be excellent. Norbert Schlafke almost flew 1000
km but saw his Waterloo after 970 km.
Marc Surinx and Richard flew in the Duo to Young and East of the Albury CTR
back. Unfortunately they had to use the engine
after 485 km in the mountains. At the end they landed at Corowa after an
exiting flight of total 600 km.
.
While the pilots were flying we packed the Green Container.
PI, HP, PZ, JM. ILH and HD are ready for the trip back.
Tonight we have a full restaurant with almost all the pilots and partners.

It was another good day. The cu's started to pop up at 12 and by 12.30
everybody was gone.
A cloudbase of 2600 m and clims over 5 m/s.
Martin Feeg, a member of the Southern Cross Gliding Club, came to say hallo
on his way home from the Nationals
in Waikerie .
Today is was also the last flying day of HD, JM an ILH.
Tomorrow we will pack these gliders together with PZ, PI and HP in the Green
Container.
January 25 th 2004
After the temp flight we downloaded the flight, but there was
something wrong in the file, so we could not read it.
Grietje went straight away back in the air for a new temp.
This one showed us good soaring conditions. After the late briefing 10 am we
were in time to start launching with
the first thermals. The cumulus was develloping from 12.15 and from the
beginning we had good climb rates.
Later the cloudbase went up to 3600 m agl and climbrates up to 6 m/s.
Dieter and Ruedi decided first to go to Mt Beauty and fly around the Albury
ctr to the North and back.
We all had another day in Corowa paradise.
January 24 th 2004
A good soaring day. We started launching at 11.45 and by 12.45
we had everybody in the air.
It was a very turbulent air mass and hard work for the towpilot.
Andy AS flew back from Temora where he did stay for a (airshow) day
with Pepe.
By 7.30 pm all the pilots were back and made nice cross country flights.
Sorry about the delay of the webpage update the last 2 days.
Our server (in The Netherlands) had problems while moving from one place to
another.
January 23 rd 2004
The ski dive Nationals are finished, but it
was very sad to hear this morning that the accident of yesterday was fatal.
Not a matter of failing equipment or heroism, but just bad luck. We
sympathize with them.
We had a reasonable day , but it took a while again
before we reached the trigger temp.
But later it was good and the pilots who flew had a very nice day, with
flown distances up to 485 km.
Reinhard Pankow is leaving tomorrow and we packed the AR back in the
container.
Tonight we had a nice dinner with Reinhard and are now (after I finish my
daily news) into Corowa to
have a Coffee and a drink with him before his leaving for China.
January 22 nd 2004
An excellent temp, but a slow rising temperature. Nevertheless ,
we had a good day.
Everybody was in the air and enjoyed the interesting day.
The Ski dive Nationals had their last day, so from tomorrow he sky is
ours again.
January 21 st 2004
The forecast was a bit complicated today. The trough just over
our area and only slowly moving East.
Forecast temperatures in the high 30 and possible thunderstorms and a strong
surface and upperwind.
We kept the gliders in an had a 25 kt wind all day with hugh thunderstorms
just NE of the airfield and hail in Albury.
Toaday we said goodbye to Peter Zander. He is leaving tomorrow .
Harry and Wendy Medlicott left also. Harry was very surprised by the Corowa
operation. Professional ,well managed
and a lot of nice glider pilots.
January 20 th 2004
The last day of this cycle. As mentioned by the pilots an
interesting day with thunderstorms , lightning, good
thermals and a high cloudbase.
Eugene joined Peter Klose in the Nimbus 3 dm and they flew 897 km. Eugene
was happy after his longest flight ever.
Andy and Klaus returned after their short holiday in Waikerie and will
finish the season in Corowa.Andys with his AS
and Klaus with the Ventus 2 ct AR.
We had a busy and nice evening in the restaurant .
It was the last day of Harry and Wendy Medlicott in Corowa. They are going
back home at the NSW East coast.
It is good to see, that more Australian pilots find Corowa for making good
flights and meet pilots from other countries.
January 19 th 2004
Today the Skydive Nationals started and again all people
involved are pleased in the way we cooperate.
Marc Surinx and Richard arrived yesterday. Marc and Francesco did the site
check and the engine procedures
After that Marc flew a 220 km triangle in the afternoon.
They will fly FOX for the next 2 weeks.
It was a good soaring day with flown distances up to 730 km.
anuary 18 th 2004
Today we had the practice day at Corowa of the Australian
Nationals Skydiving.
Enough space for everybody at Corowa and a good atmosphere between
the 2 air sports.
Marten vd Loeff and Frederike left today. Marten flew the Duo and Frederike
did a lot of sight seeing by bike.
They surprised us with a good bottle of Cape d'Estaing Cabernet Sauvignon.
We only have to wait until 2005
before we can drink it. But maybe Marten is back in Corowa by that time, so
we drink him together.
Naud Vermeulen and his Joke stayed the night with their camper.
Naud will fly some days in February.
It was a nice flying day again, only the temperature stayed 3 grC below the forcast.
After the towing Grietje flew with one of the skydive ladies Naomi 2 hours in the Duo.
January 17 th 2004
This morning we could not make a temp, because we had an 7/8
cloud cover at 1000 ft.
Next to that we had a strong surface wind with gusts up to 30 kts and strong
winds at all levels.
The forecast for the next days is good, which made everybody to decide not
to fly and wait until tomorrow.
Radovan had his last day and is flying back home .
January 16 th 2004
The last day for Wim (Grietje's father) and Roy ( a friend of the
family).
They were a great help around the airfield but most in the kitchen. Chef
Wim did a great job in
the restaurant. Thanks Wim and Roy
|
Wim's last swim in the rain |
Anja Kohlrausch left today. She flew about 80 hours and 7000 km cross
country. We wish her lots of succes
in the German female team.
The weather today was dominated by the trough and a deepening Low over SW
Queensland, which brought
a lot of clouds, thunderstorms and rain.
Dieter was the only one who started, but was back within no time, because he
was surrounded by showers.
January 15 th 2004

MK
Manfred Kasten is celebrating his Birthday today.
Happy Birthday Manfred
The flying day: The temp was ok, but it took until 2 pm before we had good
climbs. Most of the pilots
took the day off after 2 days of excellent weather.
The only 2 pilots who flew were Marten vd Loeff and Harry Medlicott. Marten
flew out and return The Rock
with the DUO FOX, (235 km)
In the afternoon Grietje flew with the Cherokee 6, with Wim and Roy to
Tocumwal. They visited Sportavia and Mike Burns
with his jet-Caproni project.
It was a surprise when Ross and Glenda Body visited Corowa in the afternoon.
We know Ross and Glenda from our time at
Tocumwal and had some good years together. We really appreciated their
visit.!!
Unfortunately Grietje was on her way back from Toc. and missed them.
Tonight we celebrated Manfred's birthday ( and a little bit his wedding
anniversary of 39 years tomorrow) with champagne
and a nice meal with 24 people.
January 13 th 2004
AS
Andreas Sieber is celebrating his 55th Birthday today.
Happy Birthday Andy
At the briefing there was a loud happy birthday by all
the pilots,directed by Francesco.
Now the flying. It was another day in Paradise.
An early start again and most of the pilots were in the air at 12.00.
Unfortunately with 3 launches to go we had
a problem with the towplane which took 2 hours to repair.
After the repair, Marten left with the FOX and flew for a few hours with his
wife Frederike.
PI outlanded after a flight of 1015 km
triangle
at Lockhart and flew back on the engine.
All the other pilots flew distances between 240 and 895 km.
January 12 th 2004
Another good flying day.The temp was good and at
10.30 we already had the temperature we needed to go
up to 1000 meter.
First launch was at 11.00 and it turned out to be an excellent soaring day.
With a cloudbase of 3400 meter
in the North and climbrates of over 4 m/s.
Marek and Tomas flew 1015 km out and
return.
and the other pilots between 160 and 700 km.
Radovan made his first out and return to Urana and was very proud to be back at Corowa
In the afternoon, Harry Medlicott flew in from Narromine with his
Ventus 2 cxt RJ.
He will fly here for the next few days.
January 11 th 2004
The forecast was more or less the same weather as yesterday.
Due to the SW wind it took a while before we reached the trigger
temp. A blue day but
we had a good flying day with the biggest flight over 800 km made by Tomas
and Marek.
Marten vd Loeff made his first flight with the Duo with Francesco in the
back seat.
They flew an easy 280 km triangle.
Klaus Warnke arrived today This is Klaus his 3rd visit to Corowa and
he will fly AR and AS..
.
January 10 th 2004
Marek and Tomas flew back from Moree to Corowa. Another 800
km !!
It was a blue day with some cu's. Unfortunately we had some high clouds.
Nevertheless most pilots flew
and enjoyed sometimes climbs over 5 m/s. Francesco and Edelgard had 5,6 m/s
int. over The Rock .
Marten v/d Loeff arrived today with his wife and he will fly the Duo for the next 2 weeks.
January 9 th 2004
Today it was Eugene's day.
After he bought last year a damaged ASW17 and spending 8 months on the
repair, today
it was his day to make the first flight with his ASW17
WN.
Later in the afternoon Francesco was towing the "17" and Eugene was proud.
His "17" is a beauty and it is flying 100 %.

| before T/O | Does it fly ? | Yes perfect !!! |
We made quite a few launches today and the
best performance today wa s again made by
PI, flown by Marek Pechanec and Tomas Suchanek. They made a
800 km goal flight from Corowa up to Moree. Again a new CZ
record !!!
It was not an easy day, but all the other pilots made good flights to.
In the afternoon Reinhard Pankow arrived and he will fly the AR for the next
weeks.
Welcome back in Corowa.
January 8 th 2004
The day after the cool change.
A beautiful sky with cu's, but a very strong wind of 20 kts and gusts up to
30 kts plus a cross wind on all the
runways.
Unfortunately we had to take the decision not to tow because we were out of
the towing limits.
PI with Marek and Tomas was the only self launcher who flew and they made
about 980 km.
January 7 th 2004
Unfortunately one more non flying day.
The cool change is moving W --> E without any rain of importance.
The forecast for the next days is good.
January 6 th 2004
The clouds associated with the tropical cyclone Ted are still covering large
parts of Australia.
So today grey and patchy rain and no flying.
For tomorrow we have a cool change and from Thursday we will start a new
cycle with good soaring weather.
Gerrit, Pam and John left this morning for Toowoomba with the Diamondstar
YPM.
They will be back after the week-end.
January 5 th 2004
Today my mother is celebrating her 80th
birthday.
Sorry we can't be with you today. Grietje and Francesco
|
|
Only Dieter was flying today.
Team
PI did some maintenance on the glider, so it will be ready for the rest of the
season.
Radovan Stanka, from CZ arrived and will fly the LS4 for the next 10 days.
January 4 th 2004
A good temp. trace, but abroad cloud band
with thunderstorms and rain spoiled the day.
So no flying today and an early day for Grietje, Wim and Francesco. Dinner
at home today !!
Yesterday I got the pictures from New Years eve dinner from Andreas Sieber,
who was the house photographer that night.

January 3 rd 2004
The forecast was good. Temp. max local 38
degrees
and in the North 41 degrees.
The pilots could fly in turbulent thermals, but also very strong and good
ones.
PI did not manage to make his 3rd flight over 1000 km in three days,
but 1160 km, 1025 km and 930 km
in a row is not a bad performance.
And tomorrow ? Probably another good day.
January 2 nd 2004
Another day in paradise. and
3 x 1000 km flights
1st take off at 10.30 and before noon we had everybody in the air.
Gerrit and John were back at 19.15 after their 1000
km flight and PI was the last to land after his flight
of 1000 km out and return,
the 2nd 1000 km flight in 2 days.
All the other pilots made good flights today. Together we flew 170 hrs and 15.350 km cross country, which is a new day record for Corowa.
January 1 st 2004
Happy New Year.
The first good flying day of 2004 and the
first flight over 1100 km from Corowa.
Tomas Suchanek and Marek Pechanec left at
10.30 and landed at 21.00
They flew a 1160 km declared free distance flight,
which is a new CZ record !!
In the beginning the temperature went up slowly and the air mass was
changing.
Nevertheless the conditions were excellent !
Gerrit Kurstjens
flew a new Dutch record on the 200 out and return and
John Buchanan a new Australian record on the 500 km out and return
December 31 st 2003
We did some flying in the afternoon after
the high clouds left our area.
December was an excellent month for Corowa.
Compared to last year,
| we flew | 40 % more km cross country 125.000 km |
| 50 % more hours | |
| and made | 60 % more starts |
In the evening, we had with all the pilots and partners a very nice new years eve
dinner, which
was prepared by 3 chefs.
Wim made an excellent cold entree, Prawns with a
mustard sauce.
Jock prepared the warm entree,
Mussels cooked in an excellent white wine soup.
Francesco did the main course
Salmon and Shark fillet with a dille sauce.
Served with salad and 4 varieties of potatoes.
Table setting and decoration was done by Grietje.
And of course at 00.00 we had champagne
December 30 th 2003
Yesterday we got in the afternoon some pre
frontal clouds, which are always difficult to judge. Some of the pilots
decided to fly short tasks but PI made 620 km.
When we woke up we still had the high clouds, but the forecast was a good
day with a high cloud base.
For those who made the decision to fly ,they had a beautiful day. A cloud
base over 3000 m agl and climbs of 6,5 m/s
average were the ingredients for a good soaring day..
The PI again with Marek Pechanec and Tomas Suchanek flew
920 km.
John Buchanan flew a new Australian record on the 300 km out and return with 151,7 km/h
and Gerrit Kurstjens a new Dutch record on the 200 km out and return with 132 km/h
Tomorrow the last day of the year 2003, but our December month is already ok.
December 29 th 2003
Bernd Weber left today. He tried hard to
get a flight a few days later, but without success.
Edelgard will stay until the 10th and will fly the AR.
A few degrees more today, but still not hot enough for the big tasks.
December 28 th 2003
A busy day. Peter Pressniell is here for a
few days to do the towing in the 2nd towplane, which made the launching
today again possible within an hour.
Yesterday it was Francesco's day off, so he could fly the Duo and today
Grietje was flying thew Duo together with
John Buchanan. From tomorrow the Duo is booked until the end of January.
All together we flew today 140 hours and 10735 km cross country,
not bad for a winter day in Europe.
December 27 th 2003
Frits Urselman and Fer Bergmans arrived
today. They will fly FOX for the next 2 weeks.
Frits has a little bit of a flew , but we hope he will recover soon.
Today we had flights between 220 km and 640 km. and the total km cross
country is for the first time
since we started at Corowa over 100.000 km in one
month.
Francesco flew with Edelgard the DUO and they flew for 6,5 hours
between 350 and 2150 meter.
December 26 th 2003
A blue day.
The temp gave 30 grC for lift up to 1000 meter. We only got 30 grC so a
difficult day.
Francesco and Wim flew the Duo for 1,5 hour and Dieter was the only one who
went cross country.
For Sunday and Monday the forecast is temperatures up to 40 grC, normally
good for excellent soaring
conditions.
December 25 th 2003
Merry Christmas.
We had some presents under our Christmas Tree.
Andrea and Evelyn were the two ladies who deserved extra attention. They are
a great help in the garden ,around
the clubhouse and on the airfield. So they got the presents.
For Francesco and Grietje there was chocolate.
The 2nd team PI Brano, Tibor and Lubor
left this morning with their very nice partners.
They did a lot of flying included 3 new National records.
Today a blue day. By 12.30 we had everybody in the air. Not easy in the beginning, but later a good day as forecasted.

December 24 th 2003
We needed 26 grC to get up to 1000 meter, so
for Corowa a late start at 12.00.
Not all the pilots went up. But the die hards did.
When we got the Tmax of 31 grC we had good lift.
flight between 300 and 500 were the result.
For tomorrow not a Christmas day off, but a normal operation with probably
good flying weather.
December 23 rd 2003
A sunny day.
We used the bitumen runway today, to save the grass strips and give them a
day to dry.
The dry SW wind and the sun did their work and a lot of spots are dry again.
We had a blue day .
Tomas Suchanec and Marec were the first to take off today. Their first
flight of their Corowa season.
and flew a 630 km out and return.
Anja Kohlrausch was one big smile after her flight. She is ready for the big
tasks.
Not a real good day, special for Lubor. He made his 2nd outlanding, this
time with the GOB.
Lubor was retrieved by Grietje in the LGT. She made her first solo retrieve.
Busy, so it is good to have Wim (Grietjes father) in the kitchen.
December 22 nd 2003
No flying today.
After we left yesterday evening it started to rain again, absolutely unreal
for the Australian
summer.
The weather for today was 8/8 caused by the low pressure system which
is moving SE.
Andreas Nies, Anja and Jos Smit left
today. A sad feeling, just because they are very nice to
have around. Hopefully we will see them next year. Thanks again for being in
Corowa.
But the sunny side of the day !!!
We could welcome 3 new customers, Tomas Suchanek ( European Champion Beckescsaba and 4th
on the WGC in Lezno 2003) and Marec Pechanec who are flying ther PI
for the next 3 weeks.
Tomas also had his birthday today.l
and Guenter Schwarzbich (with his wife) who is going to fly the ASW27
3W for the next few weeks.
Grietje's father WIm arrived today with Roy a friend of the
family. They will stay for 3 ,5 week
at our place and we hope they have a very nice time here with some flying in
the DUO.
December 21 st 2003
Unreal.
Last season we had 15 minutes of rain. This season I think we had the last
few weeks 15 cm of rain.
Today we did some flying, but it is raining again.
The forecast for tomorrow is still a bit of rain, but after the rain
sunshine with the forecast of good soaring
weather.
Only Andreas and Anja flew the Duo ,
Dieter the D8 and Jim herd the ASW 27
December 20 th 2003
This morning at 3 am it started to rain
until 5 pm.
So you can imagine how much water came down. Result a non flying day and
probably tomorrow the same. The forecast for Monday is ok again .
Tonight we had a very nice farewell diner with Andreas, Jos and Anja.

We had quite a bit of rain yesterday, but
fortunately no problems around the building this time.
The forecast for today was depending on the Tmax. Tunderstorms yes or No.
After1 pm it turned out to be ok and the FOX with Andreas and Jos was the
first to launch. Later followed by
Brano/Tibor, Lubor, Jim, Gerrit, Pam, and Diet
Anja Kohlrausch arrived today, had her briefing, made her sitecheck and is ready to fly her Ventus 2a HP for the next 4 weeks.
December 18 th 2003
A day off today.
The trough passed during the day and for most pilots it was good to have a
non flying day.
Andreas and Anja enjoyed a good sleep after nice and long flights with the
Duo together.

We closed the kitchen tonight, but Pepe announced this morning that he would
come to Corowa Pepe and cook his famous paella.
Special guest tonight were Brian and Gillian Spreckly.

Grietje, Lubor, Tibor and Brano
retrieved the 3W by trailer this morning. They left at 7.30 and were back at 9am.
So 3W was in time for Jim Herd, who is going to fly it the next 8 days.
Lubor is now flying the Nimbus 2 VY.
An early start again. at 11.30 most
of the gliders were on their way. John Buchanan left at 12.45 for a 750 triangle and
Grietje at 16.00 with the GOB. Both flew an new National record.
Brano and Tibor also flew new National record over a 800 FAI km triangle.
So far December is an excellent
month. Until today we made more launches, we flew more hours and more km cross country
compared to the whole month of December 2002.
December 16 th 2003
The temp was good and we had an early
sart.
Before 12.00 everybody was in the air. The temperature went up slowly and the cu's were to
late.
But still it was a very good soaring day, with long flights again. Together we flew over
10.800 km
cross country today
Gerrit and Pam arrived with VW and
PM. They flew from Narromine to Corowa.
Peter Klose and Willie also flew back from the North. he were blocked by thunderstorms and
cancelled
the trip North.
December 15 th 2003
The 10th good flying day in a row.
A good forecast for the day. Some cu's and strong thermals.
We had nice cu's over Corowa, but the flying area in the North was blue.
Lubor Kovic flew a new National record out and Return of 600 km and Grietje left
after work
in the LS4 without water and flew a Dutch female record on the 200 km out and return.
Unfortunately we did not change the name in the logger in the right way, so it is
not valid. Tomorrow another change.
Jos Smit had his birthday today.
On the briefing we had a loud happy birthday song, directed by Francesco.
As Jos told us it was the biggest choir that has ever song for him. Anyway it was fun.
For tomorrow ? another good flying day !
December 14 th 2003
The 9th good flying day in a row.
Bernd Weber made his first cross country from Corowa and flew in the AR over 600 km, his
best Australian performance.
Gerald Sick achieved what he wanted, a diamond.
He flew today his 300 km FAI triangle. Congratulations Gerald !!
All the other pilots made nice flights aswell.
All together we flew over 10.00O km cross country today.
Only the GSM with Micki outlanded 25 km from corowa. Andy is still on his way to get him
back home.
The forecast for tomorrow, Another good flying day.
December 13 th 2003
Bernd and Edelgard made their site
checks and flew the AR.
Nick Gilbert arrived with the SZD 55 and flew from Corowa.
Due to the good weather forecast for the next few days most (long stay) pilots took
a day of .
Peter Presneill is back in Corowa and was towing almost the whole day with a big smile on
his face.
John Buchanan did not fly and was so
kind to offer his glider to Francesco.
He made his first flight on the ASW22 BLE and flew 495 km cross country and landed also
with a big smile.
December 12 th 2003
A good flying day again.
We were just in between a cool change SW of corowa and a trough NE.
We started launching at 11 and at 12 we ahd all 20 gliders in the air.Nice cu's i the
beginning, but later
we got the clouds of the SW cold front. Nevertheless we still had climbs of 3,5 m/s under
the overcast.
In the north we had wave again. Ian de Ferranti went up to 14.000 ft !! and had an easy
final glide.
In the afternoon, Bernd Weber and Edelgard Stasch arrived. They will fly the Ventus 2ct RA.
December 11 th 2003
A happy day for Anja Hilbrandt. She
flew in the Duo Discus her first 300 km out and return.
In the beginning, the thermals were not easy and hard to center. Later it became better
and some of the pilots
had wave over West Wyalong up to 1`2.000 ft.
A good soaring day without the forecasted Cu's but flights up to 710 km.
December 10 th 2003
After the best day sofar we put the
gliders on the grid, but the trough came to soon.
3W flew local and some other pilots used the day for maintenance.
The trough slowed down on the
approach and the weather was good.
FOX made a test flight but called that the weather was good and they flew 350 km.
In the afternoon Grietje and
Francesco were surprised by the visit of Jacques van Delft, a club member of them
from the Netherlands.
Not Friday but tonight on special request of the customers we had salmon on the menu.
After dinner we watched a beautiful sunset with clouds and rain which did not reach the
ground.
The trough is stalling at the moment,
so we will see what the weather will bring tomorrow.
December 9th 2003
Willie Wollermann and Peter Klose flew the 1st 1000 km FAI triangle of the Corowa season 2003 2004!!!
A busy day. The temp indicated
an early start. Dieter Schneller was the first (like always) and used the first thermal at
10.45.
FOX was the 2 nd to launch. After those 2 we waited another 10 minutes with launching and
we had at exacly 11.45
all 20 gliders in the air.
It turned out to be an excellent day with long flights. Together we flew today
14.580 km cross country.
The forecasted temperature went up a bit more with the result, better thermals and a
higher cloudbase.
December 8th 2003
The forecast was a good flying day
with cu's. The cu's however did not develop and we had to deal with very
different conditions in the flying area. Good climbs and a low thermal altitude and good
climbs with a high altitude.
Nevertheless we had a good day with long flights.
Ian de Ferranti arrived today. He left the bad weather is came back to Corowa and we hope
he will have a good time here again.
Gerlad Sick arrived and made his site check. Gerald is flying the LS4 from tomolrrow.
December 7th 2003
A late daily news today.
Because it was a busy day and we had a full restaurant.
Today we made a try out with 2 tow planes which worked out to be perfect. Nobody had
to wait longer as 30 minutes to
be launched.
This morning John Buchanan and Ben arrived with the ASW 22 BLE BB,
which is rigged and ready for the big tasks.
Later in the afternoon the new team for the PI arrived. Brano, Lubor , Tibor and
their Partners Brigitta, Wanda and Jane
will stay in Corowa for the next 3 weeks.
In the afternoon we did the site briefing and Lubor already made his site check, so he is
ready to go with the 3W.
A reasonable flying day with blue
thermals up to 1700 meter.
For tomorrow it expect to have a good day, depending on the approach of the troughline and
the increase of temperature.
December 6th 2003
A sunny day and a busy day. Grietje
spend almost all day in the Pawnee, Eugene was running the show on
the ground.
All pilots did fly after all the rain we had. The forecast was a reasonable soaring day
with climbs of 2,5 m/s average.
Blue thermals and a thermal height of 1750 m at Tmax. Flights over 600 km were made.
Unfortunately Manfred Ringel had a very small problem with his glider an decided to fix it
today.
Site checks were made by Jos and
Richard.
Anja flew a few hours with Andreas in the FOX and later Andreas flew out and return The
Rock with Jos.
Andy returned from his Narromine cup and is back his villa lumpi
Tomorrow we expect Brano and his team. They are flying the PI, VY and 3W,
December 5th 2003
St Nicolaas birthday today, but the
presents were for Grietje and Francesco.
This morning we got from our customers beautiful plants and trees. Evy, Andrea, Hans,
Manfred Kasten and Grietje were
busy all morning to put them in the garden which is getting nicer and nicer.
What I forgot to mention in the news from yesterday is that Evy and Grietje put all the
Christmas decoration in
the clubhouse. Still very strange to have Christmas in summertime.
Due to the amount of rainwater the
last days, it was impossible to get the gliders out and to the strip.
We decided not to fly and give it a day to dry. Fortunately we had a dry South Westerly so
it dried up quite well.
Andreas Nies and Jos Smit have been
busy with the preparation of the Duo which they are going to fly
for the next three weeks. Jos and Richard Aldus had their field briefing this morning and
the site check will be done tomorrow
first thing in the morning.
December 4th 2003
Andreas Nies and Anja arrived in the
morning. They are going to fly FOX with Jos Smit.
Richard Aldus checked in at 6 pm. Richard will fly his own Ventus RA.
December 3rd 2003
Overcast in the morning but a window
in the afternoon,
Manfred Ringel and Herbert Dressler went to Albury to get a new battery for Herbert's
glider and
Hans Lange had his first golf lesson and visited the very nice township of Beechworth.
Bernd Dieter and Francesco were the only pilots who flew.
At this very moment the trough is coming trough with thunder and rain.
For tomorrow probably the same weather and the forecast for Friday and the week-end are ok
again.
December 2nd 2003
No rain today at Corowa ( untill 8
pm) A warm day, overcast and some thunderstorms North and West of the
airfield.
The only flying today was the site check of Herbert Dressler with Francesco. They flew for
about 40 minutes
and came back due to a havy storm just west of the airfield.
Team PI went for the Koala's and made some beautifull pictures of those very active
animals.
December 1st 2003
Just after we left yesterday evening
and I wrote there was only a little bit of rain we got thunder, lightning and
2 cm of rain.
Today we were still under the influence of a troughline which is only moving slowly to the
east.
It was not flyable, so everybody went to see kangaroos and koala's.
For tomorrow we will see, a sunny day with a possible shower is the forecast, but we will
see.
Andy Sieber is still in Narromine and
wants to fly back, but is blocked by the weather system.
Herbert Dressler arrived today and was really suprised about the changes since we started
in Corowa.
Herbert visited Corowa 2 years ago on an Australia trip and brought this year his own
glider.
His glider HD is already rigged in the hanger so after the briefing and sitecheck tomorrow
he is ready
for flying the rest of the season in Corowa.
November 30 th 2003
The last day of the month and also
the last day of a perfect cycle.
We had 6 excellent flying days in a row on which we flew almost 30.000 km cross country.
But for today a cool change with a little bit of rain, but not much.
No flying today, but a welcome bit of rest for FOX and 3W.
An unfortunate scoring week for the
PI team. When they wanted to put their flights (520 km FAI triangle, 750 km FAI triangle
and 2 x 750 km polygone) on the OLC competition Australia, they found out that in all
their loggers ( 2 x LX20 and the LX7000)
the ENL was not activated. Now they are ok !!
Sofar a good season and a November month with more km cross country compared to last year.
This week we expect Herbert Dressler and Richard Aldus who are going th fly the HD and RA.
November 29 th 2003
The pre frontal clouds were a bit
early. Still very good gliding conditions under the cirrus clouds, most of
the pilots decided to take a day off.
Only Norbert Schlafke, Peter Klose?Willie and Dieter Schneller flew cross country and
Francesco flew local
with Kait in the Duo.
Peter and Willie took the best out of the day they flew 950 km triangle !!!

November 28 th 2003
Forecast the same weather as
yesterday and probably 2 more good days to come.
Bernd Doernemann and Peter Zander decided to take a day off after 3 days of long cross
country flights.
November 27 th 2003
All the gliders were ok today and all the pilots enjoyed another excellent day.
Zuzanna made a cross country instruction flight in the Duo and fle over 500 km.
The PI made another declared 750 triangle .
Tomorrow ? another good day!
November 26 th 2003
A 3rd good day in a row. And we are not there yet, because the forecast for the next three
day is good aswell.
Problems for Manfred Ringel today. The belt of his engine broke just before take off. He
was busy all day repairing
it with the friendly help of Pavel Rychtarik.
Ruedi Herzog had a late start and had to replace the sparkplugs.
All the other pilots enjoyed an
excellent soaring day and even Grietje found the time today to take the DUO for a
quick afternoon 360 km triangle.
Juraj and Ivan completed a declared
750 km FAI triangle with the PI. This was the first time that Slovakian pilots
completed a 750 km triangle. Congratulations.
The good weather of the last few days has dried the airfield rapidly and from tomorrow we
do not have any problems
with wet areas.
November 25 th 2003
Another good day.
It was still a struggle to get the glider to the strip with out damaging the airstrip to
much.
Nevertheless it was a beautiful soaring day.
Hansi Lange had some problems with his electricity, so he had to come back and work on the
glider.
Sorry he missed this day.
Eugene made a test flight with the Blanik. So it is available from now on.
Ruedi Herzog and Manfred Kasten
arrived also yesterday and rigged the MK and DS and are ready to fly tomorrow.
Ruedi and Eugene went to Tocumwal by car to pick up Jock's glider VY from Peter Corckery's
maintenance shop.
Ruedi was so kind to fly the VY back to Corowa.
Finally we November 24
th 2003
The day after !!
Finally we woke up with a blue sky ! and from 10 am beautiful cu's.
The only problem we were facing was a drowned airfield. PI was almost resting with his
fuselage in the mud
due to the 3 cm of rain we had yesterday evening.
Everybody was very careful and we did
take off from the main runway.
It turned out to be an excellent soaring day.
Suzane made her sitecheck .Her first flight in a Duo, which she enjoyed for more than an
hour.
After Suzane Ivan made his sitecheck and flew with francesco out and return The Rock.

November 23 rd 2003
Last night we went home with a sky with stars,
so we were optimistic.
This morning cu's with a cloudbase 0f 2000 ft and a doubtful forecast.
The only one who did fly was PI with Pavel and Ivan. They flew for 2 hours with a
cloudbase of 1300 m
and climbs of 2 m/s in straight flight with 220 km/h ias.
But when they landed it started to rain again. The low is still over the southern part of
NSW and the rain
is developing to the north.
A very unusual situation for us, but things are the way they are. Peut etre demain !!
as the French say.

November 22 nd 2003
Last night and this morning we had 30 mm of
rain.
We still have a low pressure system over our area, which we hope will move East under the
influence of
the high over the Bite.
Hans and Pepe wanted to fly to
Narromine, but they have to wait another day.
Andy who is already in Narromine is also enjoying thunderstorms.
Rob, Dirk and Max are safe back in
the Netherlands.
November 21 st 2003
We had today still to deal with the low pressure
system with a large rain area.
So no flying but a working day.

Everybody was working and making improvements on the gliders. Peter Zander and Francesco
replaced in the Duo Discus the old Zander for the new Zander/SDI. A very nice instrument,
easy to use
and an excellent display.
Eveline Lange made some very nice table cloth for the restaurant and Ute was knitting
panholders.
Later on the day Norbert Schlafke
arrived by car and Uwe picked up Peter Klose and his friend Willy
in Wangaratta. Peter is going to fly the KP again.
Hopefully tomorrow flying reports.
November 20 th 2003
We rigged DB and D8 today.
Just after we had them in the hangar the thunderstorm and rain blew away all the garden
furniture and
almost the Nimbus 4DM PI. Pavel just started to tie down the PI as the downburst forced us
to hold the glider
with 5 people.Fortunately no damage and all the furniture is back.
We expect some more storms and rain tonight.
Rob, Dirk and Max left this morning. It was nice to have them around.
November 19th 2003
The last day for Rob,Dirk and Max.
Rob and Max flew the Nimbus 4 and Dirk joined Francesco in the Duo.
The flew both up to Wagga Wagga and on the way back AV made pictures of the FOX and FOX of

Manfred Ringel made his site check today and
rigged his ventus 2 cm.
Manfred will stay with us for the next 2,5 month.
Rob and Grietje flew the AV which was Grietjes first flight in a open class glider.
The forecast for tomorrow is most certain a lot of rain. So it was probably the last
flying day of Rob, Dirk and Max
of the Gelderse Zweefvliegclub NL.
Because they were treated very well in the LonePine motel The Gelderse team made
joyflights with the owner and
his wife.
Rob flew the VY to Toc for a maintenance job with Peter Cockery and Any left to Narromine
to fly the Narromine cup
followed by Simon Brown in the car.
November 17th 2003
The forecast for today was a good
flying day, but there was also a complex system of low pressure over the Bite.
A good day but.
The Gelderse went sight seeing to Mount Beauty and Werner and Andrea went to Wangaratta to
pick up Manfred Ringel.
Peter Zander prepared his PZ and is ready to fly.
Pepe and Andy were preparing their trip to the Narrominecup.
Hans Wiesenthal was the only hero who did fly.
November 16 th 2003
We had the cool change today, so
nobody did fly. Only Hans prepared his DG800 HW.
Hansi Lange and Eveline returned from their Queensland holiday and Peter Zander arrived
later in the afternoon.
November 15 th 2003
The temp-trace promised a very good
day. Trigger temp 31 grC which we had at 10 am.
Rob and Dirk prepared the AV took off before 11 am and had straight away good climbs over
2 m/s.
Max flew with Pepe today. So the complete Gelderse Team was
flying today.
PI left a little bit later 2 pm with Pavel and Tono.
Ruediger made his last flight today and is leaving tomorrow.
Hans Wiesenthal and Ute arrived, but it was still to hot to rig the HW.
November 14 th 2003
Early this morning we changed the
connection in our internet room. New ADSL lines instead of the slow
old telephone line.
The forecast was good. Blue and
temp up to 32 grC.
Everybody went into the air and made good flights.
Rob and Max flew back from Tocumwal with the AV and poor Dirk had to drive the car.
For tonight Pepe was the chef and served his famous paella.

For tomorrow the forecast is temperatures over 30 grC and for Saturday over 34 grC>
November 12 th 2003
This morning Francesco made the temp
trace with Max Bloch. Not because the forecast was excellent
but to test the cusonde.
From today we will put the temp trace (when made ) on our website (Go

Team SY |
October 14 th 2003
Werner spend the day working on the
SY and Andy was the only one who flew in the afternoon. Good looking
cumulus but the climb rates were disappointing.
We enjoyed the art of Bettina's
cooking. She cooked an excellent garlic lamb with potatoes, salad and veggies.
A good glass of All Saints Shiraz completed the very nice evening.
October 13 th 2003
At 09.00 am the Quarantine officer Mr
Ray Vassalo arrived. After we ( Andy, Bettina, Werner, Andrea
Grietje, Francesco and Eugene) took out all the fuselages the inspection was done and we

October 12 th 2003
Andy and Bettina returned from their

They had a great time.
Andy has been busy building his small Villa Lumpy for the season (?). It looks
great.
Grietje has been working with Michael
and Tony at Benalla on the 100 hourly for FOO.
FOO is back in Corowa and ready for the season. LGT is still in Avondale for its 100

Today Fancesco made some T/G with FOO. I never saw Australia that green.
After a few days running the pool
filter, we had the water tested yesterday and it was 100 %.
So today after a few hours solar heating it was warm enough to take the 1st dive of the
season.

October 8 th 2003
The Blue container has arrived.
This morning at 10.30 the truck unloaded the 1st container.
The most important thing is always a quick check of the gliders. All ok !! They didn't
move 1 cm.
Grietje and Francesco almost finished the last preparations for the season.
FOO and LGT will have both on Thursday and Friday a fresh 100 hourly. So we are
ready to go on Monday !
September 29 th 2003
The containers left Grubbenvorst this
morning.
Due to a strike in the Rotterdam warf, we had to find a bypass. We did send the containers
by train from
Venlo to Rotterdam warf and from there by truck. Just because there is no strike at the
train terminal.
So everything is in time on board of the ship.
We like to thank the director of
" Kurstjens Loonbedrijf" mr Theo Heldens very much for taking
care of the
cleaning and moving the containers from the back yard to the loading spot. And for
the coffee, the use of
his workshop and the patience he had with all the trailers and pilots around.

Forecast for today rain!!! , So I
left home yesterday with the idea of having a terrible day packing the container
but fortunately it turned out to be a sunny day and it first started raining at the moment
we closed the container doors.
So container 1 packed on schedule with KP, II, AS, 3W, HD and SY.
We already knew that Andrea, Werner, Andy, Uwe and Frans were excellent container
packers, but our
new man Herbert Dressler turned out to be a talented packer.
This container will be early in Corowa because Andy, Uwe, and Frans want to make a soaring

championship.
July 18 th 2003
We have been very busy the last 3
weeks to prepare everything for an easy start of
the next flying season.
The office is organised in a way that we can spend most of our time running the daily
operation.
The Pawnees FOO and LGT both start with a fresh 100 hourly, and the team is formed.
This year Eugene will be an official staff member and secretary of the Murray Valley
Soaring Club,
Peter Presneill, the well known experienced tow pilot from last year, will be at our
club 2 days a week
to do the towing together with Grietje, Francesco and Werner Niechciol.
We also did put some effort in the tie down area. It is now green and will not be as dusty
as last year.
Some extra waterballast taps will be available on the tie down along the new taxiway.

Tomorrow we swap places, Grietje the LS4 and Francesco the Pawnee.
July 3rd 2003

| Winter in Corowa ? | A green airfield | Only for 15m gliders |
We
found a beautiful green airfield which was very strange after the dry summer.
Today we already had a very
good soaring day for about 3 hours !!
The shire made some changes
on the airfield, so now we have a real taxiway with yellow cones.
We will explain them that
some of our gliders do not fit in between so they have to change the track again.
